MissionAssist was founded to support mission workers overseas through simple services provided by Christians in the United Kingdom working from their own homes. We now have nearly seven hundred volunteers who work from home. They use all kinds of abilities and skills to help those working abroad to show God's love for people everywhere.
We offer mission workers overseas a range of services to help them in their work.
Academic Services: translation, book search, library research, English language editing and adult literacy booklets.
Practical Services: letter distribution, airport transfers, hospitality, and purchasing of magazines or medical supplies.
IT Services: keyboarding, internet research, unicode file conversion and World Bibles website.
File Processing: audio typing, data archiving, file formatting, media digitization, and typesetting.
Most of our work is geared to a specific task but over the past 25 years we have initiated several projects.
Easy English Bibles: developed out of a need to produce scripture in a simple form of the English language.
Bible for the Future: Ensuring that important data is not stored on redundant media and file formats.
WEBBS (The Worldwide Electronic Bible and Book Service): supports the work of Bible translation and publishing.
Many of our volunteers have a heart for mission but are unable to go overseas. So, working from their own homes in the UK and elsewhere, they are using their skills and talents to help those in the mission field. Their skills include such things as keyboarding, audio typing, admin and IT, researching, graphics and design, translating, and hospitality. If you have these and other skills, and want to use them in this special mission work, we would like to hear from you.
